Woman Says She Had To Fly With A Stranger’s Kid On Her Lap Due To Overbooked Flight
Did a woman have to fly with a stranger’s kid on her lap due to an overbooked flight? That’s what she’s claiming!
Can you imagine having to do that? I mean, it’s one thing if it’s your child. However, having to allow a stranger’s kid to sit on your lap during a flight seems like a bit much whether it was overbooked or not. This is just adding to the list of reasons why it’s annoying to fly. There seems to be a new story coming out every day about something horrible happening in the not-so-friendly skies. It might be a drunk passenger, a rude gate employee, or a toddler having to sit on your lap because of an overbooked flight. That’s not to mention incidents of doors coming off the plane! Can you imagine having to endure a flight with a stranger’s kid on your lap that isn’t yours? That’s a nightmare scenario!
Did A Woman Have To Fly With Stranger’s Kid On Their Lap Due To An Overbooked Flight?
According to The New York Post, 19-year-old Lily Winward of Ulladulla, Australia, claims she was flying home to Australia from the United Arab Emirates when she was forced to travel with a stranger’s toddler on her lap due to an overbooked flight. It sounds like she was flying Etihad Airways from Athens following an athletics competition when the flight stopped in the UAE for a layover. That’s when she says she was told that it was an overbooked flight and she would have to be put up in a hotel but that wasn’t something she was comfortable with. She says she wasn’t comfortable leaving the airport in her attire in Abu Dhabi which can be quite strict and was getting harassed by another passenger, per The New York Post.
She reportedly then suffered a panic attack and was eventually told by staff that they could squeeze her back on her original flight although she would have to share her seat with a toddler, The New York Post reports. This wasn’t some simple quick flight either. It can take around 15 hours! All that time with a toddler on your lap can’t be comfortable and there’s no way you’re getting some shut eye on that flight.
Now, she’s trying to figure out why she was the one booted from the flight instead of another family or a couple. I just can’t imagine having to do that. However, it’s understandable why she wouldn’t want to leave the airport to go to a hotel. It would be very inconvenient and could land her in some serious trouble if anyone takes issue with what she was wearing.
