A grandma walked around a Thailand hotel naked for hours after reportedly drinking a spiked booze bucket. They say she’s lucky to be alive!

Sometimes, it might be funny at family parties to see grandma get a little overserved. You’re not used to seeing her like that and it can be a hoot. However, if grandma has too much it can quickly become a problem. Especially if she ends up naked walking around the hotel for hours. That would be cause for concern–and it was for this family.

Why Was A Grandma Walking Around A Hotel Naked?

The New York Post reports that 61-year-old Janet West is now speaking out to warn others about the investigations into the deaths of 6 tourists in nearby Laos which is believed to be a mass incident of methanol poisoning coming from shots and booze buckets. It sounds like the mother-of-two from Swansea, Wales in the United Kingdom was ringing in the New Year with what she thought were whisky and Cokes from a bucket with straws while in Bangkok. However, she ended up saying that when she was taken to bed it felt like a dream–which it was not.

Reports say she was walking around the hotel naked for roughly 4 hours. The New York Post reports that 6 people including a British student died after consuming drinks mixed with methanol which can be used to bulk out alcoholic drinks. Janet tells The New York Post, “I was lucky to survive and to have no side effects but I’m frightened to drink the local spirits in Thailand now. The local alcohol is not distilled properly and, although it’s cheap, it’s not worth the risk–stick to imported spirits or bottled beer. Other tourists on that trip told me about people dying or going blind after drinking from the buckets. It’s really difficult because shots are just poured down your neck in Thailand. They just knock on your door shouting ‘free shots,’ and nobody questions them. I feel so sad for the unfortunate travelers in Laos, and so disgusted with the people who made the alcohol and sold it.”

It sounds like Janet is no stranger to traveling as she has worked in the army and has been traveling around the world solo since 2022. After her scary visit she has returned to Thailand but doesn’t drink as much there now. Thankfully, she’s now okay.
