Would You Rub Out Your Buddy?
Would You Rub Out a Calf Cramp For Your Buddy?
The question of the day. Would you rub out your buddy’s leg cramp? Now, of course, context is important. What is the situation you might ask? How about you’re playing basketball and one of the guys goes down with a calf cramp. Would you help out and bend the foot back and massage the calf a bit? If so, you’re like me. If not, you’re like almost everyone else we spoke to today.
It all started with a story about a basketball player who saved his opponent after he collapsed on the court. According to KOCO 5 News, an Oklahoma basketball player saved his opponent after he collapsed on the court.”
So, I’ve mentioned before that during a basketball game, a couple guys aided in alleviating a calf cramp for another one of our friends. I’m the only one on the show who thinks it’s normal. Andy was out today, so we don’t have his input, but I’ll speak for him and say he’s not rubbing out friend’s cramps. Dave, Chuck and Lisa all agree that they wouldn’t be rubbing out any cramps.
Most people who contacted the show about it said they would not. There were some, who like me, were in sports scenarios and agreed they would, or have done similar things.
Everyone is different. Every cramp is different. Sometimes, you gotta get in there and help a buddy out. What’s wrong with providing some pressure to a cramping calf muscle so your friend can get back out on the court?! Nothing, I say!
Lisa does suggest using a massage gun next time. I forgot that I had one in my backpack the day the guy cramped up, and this makes everyone think the rub down was more than just a helpful rub down. It wasn’t.
