Who Should Play The Super Bowl LX Halftime Show In 2026?
Who do you think should play the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show in 2026? It’s happening at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California (home of the San Francisco 49ers).
There’s always so much anticipation waiting to see who’s going to play the Super Bowl Halftime Show and it always gets mixed reactions. You can never make everyone happy. People who like rap want it to be a rapper, people who like rock want to see a rock band, and those who prefer country would like to see one of their stars take the stage. They all have a point and there would be great choices no matter what genre you go with. Kendrick Lamar is fresh off performing at the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show in New Orleans and seems to have gotten good reviews for the most part–unless you’re a Drake fan. So, who would you tap to play the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show next year? Take a minute and think about some options.
Who Would You Pick To Play The Super Bowl LX Halftime Show?
Kendrick Lamar did a good job this year. He put on an entertaining show, which he is known to do. He also had the whole world eagerly awaiting his performance of his hit “Not Like Us” that’s a Drake diss that went on to become insanely popular. However, the problem with someone like Kendrick is he isn’t popular with everyone. I don’t mean that as a diss, I just mean that not every Boomer or football fan knows who he is. He’s very popular in the rap world but he’s not as recognizable as say Eminem or 50 Cent. I think it would be good for the artist playing the Super Bowl Halftime Show to be a household name who is recognized by everyone. The Super Bowl Halftime Show isn’t the time for someone to learn about an artist. We all should know every song that’s played by heart. That’s what was cool about Usher performing last year. He’s a nostalgic hitmaker who’s known by Gen Z, Millennials, and Boomers alike.
I was a big fan of when Shakira and Jennifer Lopez played the Halftime Show in Miami. It made sense! They are both Latin artists and Miami is home of that kind of music so it made for a great fit. That’s why I was on the team who wanted to see Lil Wayne play in New Orleans. I would love it if the Halftime Show performer had ties to the city in which the Super Bowl is being played. New Orleans did that with the people who played America The Beautiful (Trombone Shorty and Lauren Daigle) and the National Anthem (Jon Batiste), but opted for star power for the Halftime Show. If the Super Bowl is in Detroit, I want to see Eminem perform. If it’s in Las Vegas I want to see the Killers and if it’s in Boston I want to see the Dropkick Murphys out there. That’s just me!
So, next year, in Santa Clara I think you have to go Rock. It would be cool to have some sort of tribute to the Grateful Dead. That would be awesome! If not, then you have bands like Metallica, Green Day, and more! You could have a bunch of bands collaborating and on the stage. When it’s in the Bay Area you have to go big and deliver some excellent tunes. Instead, with their trend of going hip-hop we can probably expect it to be, like, E-40 or something. Or, they’ll go out of left field and let Lil Wayne perform this time which wouldn’t make any sense and would be really lame.
