Junk Food Round-Up: Drinkable Ramen
Is drinkable ramen the food of the future? We address it in the latest Junk Food Round-Up!
Drinkable ramen is probably something you’ve never thought about before. If you had, you should have patented it while you had the chance. It just might be the next big thing in food. Or it could fall flat and go away before most people even knew it existed. It will be one of the other, certainly.
Would You Try Drinkable Ramen?
While it might sound odd, it makes sense for the right person at the right time. If you’re on the go it can be hard to bring a bowl of ramen with you. If it’s drinkable, all the better! That’s one less thing to worry about. It also would be good for gamers or people who need their nutrients without taking away their attention from the game.
According to Oddity Central, Boost Noodle is a new type of Japanese instant ramen designed to be consumed with one single hand by sucking the contents out of a pouch. Instant ramen is famous for being inexpensive and a great food option for those in college or who can’t afford to go out to nice restaurants all the time. Oddity Central reports that it comes with a special type of yam noodles, chashu pork, and fermented bamboo shoots, along with a mix of pork stock and seafood broth. Additionally, it even has caffeine! If you’re a gamer, this might actually be the perfect snack. It can keep you fed, give you nutrients, and keep you awake and alert! It sounds like it was largely inspired by gamers and meant to be consumed by them. It can even be kept at room temperature for 90 days!
While I’m sure there are better tasting snack on the market, I could see this having its uses. It’s probably going to sell better in Japan, but it might have a market here in the States. There are a ton of gamers who need their fill! See a video about Boost Noodle below.
What do you think? Is this something you’d try or do you know someone who would like it? I guess it takes away one of the more annoying part of Instant Ramen in the boiling of the water. That can take a while and takes away from the whole “instant” thing. However, if it’s already ready to go inside a pack that could make more people consider it as an option. What do you think?
