‘Insecure’ Producer Prentice Penny To Direct ‘Black Twitter’ Docuseries
A docuseries chronicling the rise of Black Twitter is in the works. According to Deadline, Insecure producer Prentice Penny is set to direct the three-part series.

The series is based on Jason Parham’s story for Wired, A People’s History of Black Twitter. The project is set to follow “the rise, the movements, the voices and the memes that made Black Twitter an influential and dominant force in nearly every aspect of American political and cultural life.”
Black Twitter (the series’ working title) will be a scripted comedy and marks Penny’s first project with the Onyx collective. If picked up to series, Black Twitter is expected to stream on Hulu. Black Twitter has been an object of fascination in the media. Besides the aforementioned Wired piece, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, The Daily Beast and The Guardian have done extensive features on Black Twitter. The University of Virginia and The University of Colorado have also posted lengthy pieces on the topic.
