A Chuck E. Cheese ‘Supersized’ Game Show Coming Soon
Many people know that Chuck E. Cheese is a place “Where a kid can be a kid.” But what about a TV, where an adult can also be a kid? A Chuck E. Cheese-themed competition show was announced by the makers of Top Chef and Nailed It!
Magical Elves, the production company, said that they will be developing a game show inspired by Chuck E. Cheese. The series will “tap into nostalgia with physical competitions for adults inspired by the brand’s many games,” according to the news release.
How will this Chuck E. Cheese-inspired game show work?
You’re probably wondering how a kid’s arcade can become a game show. Adults called “big kids” will compete with “supersized” arcade games like air hockey, alley roller, pinball, and the human claw. Just like the actual Chuck E. Cheese, the pair who wins the most tickets will trade in the tickets for prizes. Interestingly, it will be a “massive version of the iconic Chuck E. Cheese prize wall.”
For over 40 years, Chuck E. Cheese has been loved by people of all ages. The co-CEOs of Magical Elves, Jo Sharon and Casey Kriley, believe that the show’s universal appeal is what will attract fans. In their joint statement, they said, “Chuck E. Cheese is THE place where a kid can be a kid – but as grown adults, we still have dreams of ruling the arcade, taking on the iconic games we love!”
Further details about the show, like when and where the show will air, have yet to be announced. Ditto for who the host will be.
Established in the late 1970s, Chuck E. Cheese now has 567 locations. Nolan Bushnell, the co-founder of Atari, founded the first-of-its-kind interactive entertainment restaurant for families, initially known as Chuck E. Cheese Pizza Time Theatre, according to their website.
