Gina Rinehart Demands Art Gallery Remove Unflattering Portrait Of Her

Billionaire Gina Rinehart is reportedly demanding an Australian art gallery remove an unflattering portrait of her! Are they going to do it? How bad is that portrait? There are a lot of questions with this trending story.

Let's try to get to some answers below! How bad does this portrait have to be in order for the subject to ask that it be taken down? You'd think billionaires and their egos would love having portraits of themselves!

Gina Rinehart is reportedly hoping (er, demanding) that the unflattering portrait of her be removed from display at the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra, according to The New York Post. She must not be happy with the way she looks in the portrait. Well, after seeing the portrait you might understand why she has an issue with it. It's certainly not the best she's ever looked. You can't help but wonder if the artist has something against the billionaire because from the painting it seems like this could be intentional. There's a collection of more than a dozen paintings of celebrities yet it appears that the one of Gina Rinehart is by far the most unflattering. The other celebrities seem to be painted in a more favorable light. It kind of looks like how South Park animates fat characters. It appears that an extra chin may have been added in the portrait.

Now, the artist who made the portrait of Gina Rinehart, and other notable celebrities, has responded. Vincent Namatjira is the artist behind the painting in question. According to The New York Post, he said, "I paint the world as I see it. People don't have to like my paintings, but I hope they take the time to look and think, 'why has this Aboriginal bloke painted these powerful people? What is he trying to say?' I paint people who are wealthy, powerful, or significant--people who have had an influence on this country, and on me personally, whether directly or indirectly, whether for good or for bad. Some people might not like it, other people might find it funny, but I hope people look beneath the surface and see the serious side too." It appears that Gina Rinehart looked beneath the surface of the painting and didn't appreciate what it was saying about her. I'm sure there are some reasons this artist wouldn't like Australia's richest woman. There often seems to be a disconnect between artists and the extremely wealthy.
