With the number of dating apps or the ease of sliding into people’s DM’s, there are plenty of ways of meeting people for dates. Some people still opt for a simple face-to-face conversation, with a few phone calls or emails in between to set up a date. But what are the most popular ways of meeting people for dates?
Dating News, a relationship advice website, looked at some of the most popular ways of meeting people for dates, as well as options that are perhaps less common but can “still yield solid results.”
Blind dates and networking are the most popular ways of meeting new people. Their research shows that almost half of the single people surveyed have been on a blind date arranged by a friend or a family member. Almost half of respondents in the survey said they’ve been on a blind date set up by someone they know. And while those between 35 and 40 years old are shown to be more inclined to blind dates than younger people, Gen-Z, with 44% of respondents who are 20 to 24 years old, said they’ve had “the nerve” to head out on a blind date.
Meeting People For Dates: Connecting on LinkedIn
Interestingly, survey respondents indicated the most popular method of meeting people for a date was through networking platforms like LinkedIn and social media, with 52% of men, 51% of women, and 52% of gender-neutral individuals having found a date this way.
The study revealed that platforms like LinkedIn are the most popular among 35–40-year-olds, with 61% of respondents having met a future date through this avenue. If you’re single, it turns out that you can mix business with pleasure, after all. It’s worth mentioning that LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram aren’t dating apps, so it’s important that you don’t intentionally add someone just to flirt with them. Some people will be against this and will not welcome flirting they haven’t encouraged.
Only 30% of respondents said they had met someone to date at a work or business event.
Do Singles Still Meet at Bars?
According to their survey, 40% of people have met someone in a bar at some point in their life, with 39% saying they’ve met people in coffeehouses and restaurants. Half of the respondents aged 20 to 25 have met people in a bar, although the number is much lower for people between 25 and 35 years old (35%).
