Are You Guilty Of Micro-Cheating?
Have you ever heard of Micro-Cheating? If not, it’s probably time you become familiar with it. You could be doing this without knowing, or your partner could be! It’s good to know the signs.
Could you be guilty of micro-cheating? It’s a trending phenomenon that you might know a little about–just not by name. Find out more about it below.
What Is Micro-Cheating?
Dating experts are raising the red flags over the trend. The problem is it’s hard to stop or notice a behavior that you aren’t aware you’re doing! Is this just another dumb Gen-Z dating term? Or is it really something you need to know? Well, that’s for you to determine.
According to LAD Bible, dating expert Mel Schilling refers to it as, “a series of seemingly small actions that indicate a person is emotionally or physically focused on someone outside their relationship.” So, if you’re supposed to be watching a movie or eating dinner with your significant other but keep getting distracted texting that girl from work–micro-cheating. Daydreaming of that dude from the gym while your man is trying to give you pleasure? Yup. Downloading Tinder just to see what people look like on there or who’s on there? Yes. See how it goes?
If you downplay your relationship or get a little sneaky and hide stuff from your partner, those are examples of micro-cheating. It’s not full-on cheating because you’re not taking any action, but there’s still some betrayal involved hence why it’s called micro-cheating. It can be harmless and innocent, but it all depends on the boundaries set in your relationship. Texting a co-worker isn’t micro-cheating, but if you start hiding it or lying about it you’re creeping into dangerous territory.
Basically, when you try to have your cake and eat it too is when you run the risk of micro-cheating. It can be hard to tell the difference and it’s all about motivation and transparency. Have you been guilty or this or know someone who has been?
